Pit & Fissure Sealants

To prevent cavities (dental caries), we may recommend protective sealants. Sealants can be applied to your children’s molars to prevent decay on hard to clean surfaces. A sealant is a clear or shaded plastic material that is applied to the chewing serfaces (grooves) of the back teeth (premolars and molars), where four out of five cavities are found. This sealant acts as a barrier to food, plaque and acid, thus protecting the decay-proned areas of the teeth. The application of a sealant is quick and simple. The patient is able to eat or drink right after the application appointment.
